My fascination with the Occult

Updated: Aug 18

Since I was a child I have been fascinated by The Occult.

It may have been triggered by watching the 1977 BBC film version of Count Dracula starring the French actor, Louis Jourdan.

Louis Jourdan as Count Dracula

I would have been 10 years old and I had watched it on my own in our house, 10 Hubbards Lane, a house I swear was indeed itself haunted. I wasn't quite on my own. My parents had gone out and tasked me with baby-sitting my two younger sisters.

I was frightened but entranced by the story.

Were there actually such things as vampires? Was Count Dracula real?

Could I become a vampire?

Typical kid questions.

It led to a lifelong passion for roaming around graveyards and cemeteries - my taphophile hobby. In addition, it created a strong interest in all things Occult - Tarot, Demonology, Witchcraft, the Paranormal, Mythology and so on. In turn that took me down the path of discovering classical music, art, architecture, Catholicism, all influenced by not only the devout religion for God or Gods, but also the afterlife and the dark life. So not an unecessarily unhealthy hobby.

My Occult blog posts cover some of the strange things I have experienced personally alongside some of the little knowledge and insights I have gained over the years. A bit of snack and learn if you will.
